Misdemeanors
Have you been arrested/cited for a misdemeanor?
Misdemeanors are lower level crimes that are punishable by county jail for less than one year. Felonies are higher level crimes that are punishable for one year or more in the county jail or state prison.
Examples of misdemeanors can include prostitution, petty theft, driving under the influence, possession of certain drugs, assault, battery, lewd conduct, and indecent exposure.
Certain offenses can be charged as misdemeanors or felonies. These charges are called “wobbler” offenses, and can include 2nd degree burglary, criminal threats, and assault with a deadly weapon.
